Getting to Know Aspen
How will the altitude affect me?
At an altitude of 7908’ at the base of Aspen Mountain (and 11,212’ at the top), Aspen is quite literally breathtaking. It’s normal to feel lightheaded, more easily fatigued and experience shortness of breath at this elevation. For this reason, it’s crucial to stay hydrated and take it slower on caffeine and alcohol when you first get into town. More tips on how to best navigate the altitude can be found HERE. There’s also a local Rescue Lounge if anyone feels they need an immune boost or extra hydration.
What is the temperature like?
Spring in Aspen can be amazing, with snowy mountains and bluebird skies setting the scene for incredible spring skiing. However, Aspen's weather is highly variable hour to hour. Mornings can start out with temperatures in the 20s, rising to the mid 50s during the day, and as soon as the sun goes down the temperatures will drop back down sharply. We encourage packing winter layers, hats, gloves, scarves, boots, etc. The sun is also much stronger at the higher elevation, so be sure to wear sunscreen throughout the day, especially if you’re planning to ski.
Where should I stay?
Whether you will be renting a house or staying in a hotel, we highly recommend staying in downtown Aspen as transportation to/from Highlands and Snowmass is incredibly limited. Aspen is walkable with plenty of shopping and restaurants.
How to get around?
Aspen has a “tips only” car service which can be accessed through the Ride Downtowner app. Most hotels provide complimentary rides throughout Aspen’s downtown area. Ride sharing apps such as Uber and Lyft are not easily accessible and should not be relied on. High Mountain Taxi is the local taxi service but is not always available, it’s helpful to schedule rides in advance.
Will transportation be provided to wedding events?
Transportation will be provided to/from Chaparral Ranch for the wedding ceremony and reception on March 22nd. Please do not be late, as the shuttles have been directed to depart on time.

Your kids are welcome to join you in Aspen, but we ask that you arrange childcare for the wedding events.
